Lorenz Gamma

Violinist Lorenz Gamma serves on the violin faculty at California State University Long Beach as well as California Institute of the Arts and has given master classes in the United States, Europe, and Asia. He has also served on the violin faculty at UCLA and Indiana University in Bloomington. His students have won numerous prizes and have gone on to continue their studies at such institutions as the Juilliard, Manhattan and Eastman School of Music, Indiana University in Bloomington, University of Southern California etc.

Prior to concertizing for three years with the Amar Quartet of Zurich, Mr. Gamma served as principal at the Zurich Opera Orchestra, and as concertmaster of the Northwest Sinfonietta in Seattle. As a soloist he has performed over twenty different violin concertos from Vivaldi, Bach, Tartini, Mozart, Beethoven and Spohr to Mendelssohn, Schumann, Bruch, Brahms, Wieniawski, Berg, Lutoslawski, Piazzolla, Rubinstein and Gubaidulina. An avid chamber musician, Lorenz Gamma has performed a string quartet repertoire of more than fifty composers, as well as most of the standard chamber music repertoire of over eighty composers.
